Course Overview

Supporting health professionals in improving knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health care to achieve better outcomes.

Modules

  1. Interviewing an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander patient
  2. Developing a mental health management plan for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander patient
  3. Formulation of a case involving an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander patient
  4. Review a model of mental health service delivery in an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community

The development of these resources was undertaken as part of the Indigenous Mental Health Resources Centre Project. This project aimed to provide resources, education and training opportunities to support the work of health professionals in improving knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health care to achieve better outcomes.

This project was led by The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health Committee, in consultation with other College Fellows and community members with experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and/or communities.
